How to Clean All Your Suede Accessories

Anyone who owns suede knows how delicate and, well, difficult it is to protect.

Your Shoes:

These items take the roughest beating and it's almost guaranteed they'll become caked with dirt or, even worse, mud. If they're damp, let them to dry completely, then take a kneadable eraser to the stain. You can also buff out stubborn dirt with an emery board. These tricks also work for other items prone to stains, like suede purses or clothes.

Your Jackets:

Protect the collar on a suede jacket from body oil by wearing a scarf around your neck. If you do notice any greasy stains, sprinkle them with an absorbent powder, like cornstarch or use a suede cleaner.

Your hats:

If your suede hat gets a soaking in an unforeseen downpour, blot it with a bath towel to remove as much of the water as possible. Then stuff the crown with newspaper to help it keep its shape as it dries. Avoid the temptation to use the blow dryer or put it on the radiator to help it dry quickly. Heat destroys suede's soft finish.
